Start with one need: work, language learning, household essentials, education, or specialist survivor support.

  3. Check the fit

Confirm service area, eligibility, language access, fees, and appointment requirements with the provider.

  4. Choose your next step

Ask for a clear referral or appointment plan. You decide what to share and whether to continue.

Before you reach out.

Do I need to be a U.S. citizen?

You can explore the resources on this site without sharing citizenship information. Eligibility for each provider’s services may vary; ask that provider before sending immigration documents. UHF’s program-specific eligibility must be confirmed directly.

Is there a cost?

There is no charge to use this website. Ask about any program or referral fees before enrolling; this site does not establish a fee schedule for UHF or other providers.

Which languages are available?

Tell the provider your preferred language and ask whether an interpreter is available. UHF’s confirmed language roster is not yet published. Fairfax Coordinated Services Planning can help you navigate language access.

Will my information be confidential?

Share only what is necessary. General email is not a secure intake channel. Before a referral, ask what information will be shared, with whom, and what confidentiality limits apply. Read our Privacy Policy.

What should I bring?

Start with your questions and goals. Ask the specific program which documents it needs before attending. Do not email identity documents, immigration records, bank details, or a detailed account of abuse.

Where do you serve?

UHF focuses on Fairfax and surrounding Northern Virginia communities. A ZIP code eligibility list has not been published; confirm your address with the relevant program. County and nonprofit programs may have different service boundaries.

Can I contact UHF for an emergency?

No. UHF is not an emergency service. Call or text 911 for immediate danger, or use the specialist hotlines on our Get Help page.

Can someone contact you on my behalf?

A trusted person can help you locate resources. Before sharing another person’s information, get their permission and establish a safe way for a provider to contact them.
